Product Overview
The VA series TransGuard® Ceramic Multilayer Varistor is a family of transient voltage suppressors. Monolithic multilayer construction provides protection from voltage transients caused by ESD, lightning, NEMP and inductive switching. Through-hole components are supplied as conformably coated axial devices. TransGuard® ceramic multilayer varistor is a zinc oxide (ZnO) based ceramic semiconductor devices with non-linear voltage-current characteristics (bidirectional) similar to back-to-back Zener diodes. It has added advantage of greater current and energy handling capabilities as well as EMI/RFI attenuation. Device is fabricated by a ceramic sintering process that yields a structure of conductive ZnO grains surrounded by electrically insulating barriers, creating varistor-like behaviour.
